get your head in the game on purpose

So I don’t know what happened on Wednesday. The tech pirates invaded my blog and took away the “they said what?” Wednesday question session. And let me tell you it was the best I have ever done. Webby wothy!! Note to self, find that thing, submit, ask Brian Storm from Mediastorm.org how I can also win broadband Emmy!! And can Russell Simmons help in any way?? Spoken word Grammy?

You can see how much emotion I have attached to that segment – because I believe I have found my purpose.

I have been able over the course of my life, and more recently to create the clarity and focus you must have to understand the question ‘what is my purpose?’ As I have said recently that has been the most frequently asked question I get or struggle i see people deal with on a day to day basis. An not one to call the kettle black, there have been times when I have suffered the same challenges.

But most recently, certainly over the past several years, but more pointedly over the past many months I have reached several conclusions:

1. Practice what you preach Gilbert. Change and the desire to design your purpose does reside first in your mindset and then in your behaviors. You can’t sit on the couch and expect the money to magically appear at the foot of the recliner by the empty bag of potato chips. You can’t live a life that secures the  family’s future by putting off what has to be done now. It rests first in what you can control – your thoughts. No one owns them but you. And then secondly, your actions, unless something prohibits you, I mean really prohibits you, there is nothing that will prevent you from earning a dollar and learning how to turn it into two.
2. Live a life of humility. Many times people believe and act on the old adage that the only way to get to the top is to step on people on your way up. A person who first can support others in pursuit of their purpose will find that people will will support their pursuit.
3. Read and learn. When you read how do you do it? Do you read all the way through and close the book and say ‘I am done, my purpose fulfilled, why do I not feel full?’ Or do you savor the page, re-read the elements that resonate with you until they are a part of you and become a part of your future, forward-thinking mindset, the purpose-driven mindset.

I have read and re-read and will encourage you to do the same the book Aspire! Finding Your Purpose Through The The Power Of Words, by Kevin Hall. It inspired me to look up the derivation of the word purpose.

It’s meaning today is the reason for which something is done, created, or exists. In the Old French it derives from the word Prosper: to put or set in place.

Isn’t it ironic that we are searching for our purpose, but at the root of it’s meaning, our purpose is waiting for us to put it in place. Our purpose is waiting for us to take action. Our purpose is waiting for our mindset to create the scenario so the our PURPOSE may PROSPER.

Get your head in the game. That is where it will start, it’s already there. I would love to know what’s going on inside – talk to me…

Oh and tune in tonight to Nextvoice247 Presents The Next Voice You Hear with authors Kevin Hall of Aspire! and Spencer Johnson M.D. author of Peaks and Valleys (bestselling author of Who Moved My Cheese and co-author of The One Minute Manager) at 7pm CST.
